
Naval Career


From 1977 through 1981, Brian attended F-14 FRAMP and was assigned to the VF-124 “Gunslingers” in San Diego as a crew leader of the Aviation Structural Mechanic Shop, working on F-14 Tomcats. He was advanced to petty officer third and then to second class.
From 1981 until 1984, he was assigned to the VF-51 “Screaming Eagles” in NAS Miramar, CA as the AME Work center supervisor and Quality Assurance representative. He was then personally selected to receive orders to the Navy Fighter Weapons School (TOPGUN) and was subsequently advanced to petty officer first class.
From 1984 to 1986, he was attached to TOPGUN. There he served as AME Workcenter supervisor, Quality Assurance representative and detachment supervisor. He was selected as TOPGUN's 1986 Sailor of the Year.
From 1986 through 1987, he served with VF-191 “Satan’s Kittens” as the AME Shop Supervisor, Quality Assurance representative and Aircraft Division chief petty officer.
While assigned to VF-191, he was advanced to CPO, then he was selected for the Chief Warrant Officer Program and was commissioned as a chief warrant officer 2 on October 1st, 1992.
From 1992 through 1994, he was again assigned to VF-51, where he held the billets as the material control officer and maintenance/material control officer. There he was advanced to chief warrant officer 3.
From April 1994 through April 1996, he was assigned to the VF-24 “Renegades”, where he held the billets as a maintenance/material control officer and was promoted to lieutenant junior grade. He was then selected as Commander, Fighter Airborne Early Warning Wing Pacific Fleet 1995 “Maintenance Officer of the Year”.
From 1996 through 1999, he was assigned to the HSL-45 “Wolf Pack” where he held the billets of maintenance/material control officer and assistant maintenance officer. While assigned to HSL-45, he was advanced to lieutenant.
From 1999 through 2002, he was assigned to the VF-2 “Bounty Hunters” where he held billets as the maintenance control officer.
From 2002 through 2005, he was assigned to the VF-101 Grim Reapers, holding the jobs as the maintenance/material control officer, assistant maintenance officer and F-14 Air Show Demo Team coordinator. He was promoted to lieutenant commander while with the Grim Reapers.
From 2005 through 2007, he was assigned to VFA-131, where he completed his 11th deployment on board USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN 69).
It’s with VFA-131, where he retired from his 30-year career.
He earned the Enlisted Aviation Warfare Specialist pin. His personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, the Navy Commendation Medal (seven Awards), the Navy Achievement Medal (two awards) and numerous campaign and unit awards.
